Movement

Since I started my journey in aerial and ballet in March of 2023, I’ve been fully immersed in these beautiful and challenging art forms. My training includes introductory and basic ballet classes, stretch and strengthen sessions, floor barre work, and various aerial hammock/sling disciplines. This includes aerial yoga, aerial dance, and tricks and flow classes on both double point and single point apparatus. Through this combination, I’ve been able to explore the fluidity and grace of dance both on the ground and in the air. It’s been an incredible experience, enhancing my strength, flexibility, and artistic expression. This journey has allowed me to deeply connect with the beauty and discipline of movement arts, blending the classical elegance of ballet with the dynamic creativity of aerial performance.

On February 10th, 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to perform my first solo at the Pole 2 Pole Harlem “Heartbreak & Heartbreakers” show. This debut performance was a significant milestone in my journey, allowing me to showcase the skills and artistry I’ve developed in both aerial and dance disciplines. The piece was set to “Arms So Long” by American Death Ray, a song with a haunting and evocative sound that perfectly underscored the emotional themes of heartbreak and resilience.

“Arms So Long” features a blend of raw vocals and a compelling instrumental backdrop, creating a moody atmosphere that resonated deeply with the narrative of the performance. The song’s evocative lyrics and melancholy tone provided the perfect canvas for expressing the complex emotions tied to the story of heartache and endurance. This choice of music allowed me to explore a rich emotional landscape, enhancing the storytelling aspect of my performance and connecting with the audience on a deeper level.

This solo was not just a demonstration of technical ability but also a powerful expression of storytelling through movement. Preparing for and performing in this show was both challenging and rewarding, marking a pivotal moment in my artistic journey. It solidified my commitment to continue exploring and sharing my passion for performance.
